The Society of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (SPP) is now the main sponsor of the International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (ICPP) and has attempted to provide the maximum supplemental financial support to participants of this meeting with the help of its membership dues. Areas of emphasis have included:
- assisting registration costs of micro-symposium speakers
- assisting registration costs of participants from developing countries
- awarding of housing and other assistance grants to students who attend the meeting
- assistance with selection and funding of SPP/JPP Young Investigator Awards
All SPP members who have been continuously enrolled since the last ICPP meeting are eligible for a number of benefits including the following:
- discounted meeting registration fees
- discounted price on new Handbook of Porphyrin Science volumes
- discounted subscription prices to JPP
Student members of SPP are also eligible for assistance grants at ICPP-9 (click here to see the Grants & Awards page of the ICPP website).
“New” SPP Grants For Discounted Regular Registration
SPP has managed to obtain funds for substantially discounting the registration fee of participants who are not giving an invited lecture in a specialized symposium, but might be giving a poster or short contributed oral presentation.
This grant will be given automatically to all applicants until the end of the early registration period and the amount of the award will vary from EUR 350 to EUR 480 depending on the category and time of the registration.
Grants awarded during the late registration period will be given on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
A new ICPP award entitled the “John Shelnutt Young Investigator Award” was established in the honor of Professor John A. Shelnutt (who passed away on July 12, 2014) at last ICPP. We would like to continue offering this award in 2018 at the ICPP-10 meeting in Munich and we (SPP) therefore accept donations in Dr. Shelnutt’s honor. These funds will be matched by SPP in order to set up an endowment for this purpose.
